HALLOWEEN LEFT-OVERS

NO, I'm not talking about dinner.  LOL.  I'm talkin about all those stickers, ribbons, paper, doo-daas that are in a drawer someplace that you bought on sale.  Last year or the year before or.....   That's what I've been trying to use up for these children's Halloween cards.  I used to make about 12-15 cards for neices and nephews and friend's kids.  But that was before grandkids!  And some of those original kids are now in college---imagine that.

I've shown you what I made for the grandkids already.  Went looking for more left-overs in my stash and found some of those balsa wood cutouts you see in Michael's that are uncolored.  Sooo, I used markers and glitters and patterned paper and voila!  Some easy, almost no stamping cards that I hope the kiddies will enjoy.  Don't you love that background paper?

Oh, then I found something I bought on sale this year:  the sparkly words and pumpkins.  These were in a long strip, so I cut them up and used what I wanted.  I have to say, they didn't stick as well as I would have liked, so I added Sparkle N Sprinkle tear-ific tape to the back where I could.  Added that sticker to the center (its one of the ones that changes pictures when you move it.)

And I had one more of those dimensional children in costume, so I wanted to use it up.  Put that with some glittery foam stickers and a ghost from who knows where.

You'd think I would have put a dent into all that Halloween stuff, right?  Wrong.  Still lots more in the drawers.  AND I just bought 3 more packages at Michael's yesterday.  Can't pass up a coupon good on sale items too!  LOL

Hope that you get lots of TREATS on Halloween!

See you again soon.

More Quick Halloween Cards

As promised yesterday, I finished the other 3 cards for my grandchildren.  I really like how they turned out and hope you get some ideas.

Here is a ghost and a skeleton.  Just changing the cardstock color and inked background color gives a whole different look.  The ink inside the frame was sponged on to look smokey or hazy.

And lastly is the darling little witch for my only granddaughter.  I used purples for this card since the witch came that way.

Here is one of the card's inside, which has the same embossing folder except with a gray ink rubbed onto it.  Stamp saying and color with marker.

Check out your stash - - - you probably have STUFF that could be added to your cards.  I had lots of stickers as you can see above.  Some glittery gel pens added a little pizzaz.  I'm going to make a few similar cards using up more stickers some neices and a nephew.
Have Fun!

NO Stamping Halloween Card for Grandkiddies

Late as usual, but I am finally getting to the Halloween cards for my 4 grandchildren.  I started them a few weeks ago, but got caught up in other things so I am just getting around to working on them again.
I started with a Darice Spider Web embossing folder (1216-73) on cream cardstock.  Then add versamark ink direct to paper around the edges (where the embossing is), then heat emboss with black embossing powder.  It makes the image look old and worn.  I added some distress ink into the center of the frame (this one got a red), and then I used K&Company dimentional stickers of costumed children to put inside my "frame". A couple more stickers of spiders and voila! Its done.  I did another embossed frame for the inside and added a sentiment.  I love how this one turned out and I think my kiddos will too.  What do you think?

2011 Halloween

I will be doing a few more tonight and will upload as soon as I can.  They are really very quick and simple....and I needed that this year!  LOL
Come back to visit again soon.  I am planning to post more often.  Promise.

WORLD ANIMAL DAY BLOG HOP

Welcome to the Sparkle and Sprinkle World Animal Day Blog Hop!

If you arrived here by way of Patti White's blog, you are in the right place.  If you didn't get here that way, you might want to start at the beginning at the Sparkle and Sprinkle Blog.  That's where you'll find all the important info, like prizes and blog addresses.

Animals are part of our world- - -whether you have pets as members of your family or you just love the animals that live on this planet with us!  For my card inspiration I chose Ginger, the giraffe from the Critters Stamp Set 275.  Ginger has so much personality and would bring a smile anyone's face.

This was a pretty straight forward card for the most part.  I die cut the shape four times--twice with silver card stock, once with white card stock and once with tag board.  Then I embossed the white piece using Plum Wine Embossing Powder EP376.  For the main image, I embossed the tag board with Plum Wine, but it has to be done approx. four times until the embossing powder becomes puddled, then using silver metallic pigment ink stamp Ginger into it.  The silver pigment ink will take quite a while to dry, so let it stay overnight before assembling the card.  Then, I used the plastic bag from a ham/turkey to cover the purple card stock to add a little interest.  Full directions can be viewed here.

If you are ready to continue on your safari, the next stop is at the talented Barbara Bruder's Blog.  You'll find some more great ideas there!

And don't forget to leave comments on everyone's blog to qualify for the prizes!

As always, thank you for taking the time to stop by!
